Los Angeles, CA October 17th,2025 — “Mujeres Pájaro: Identidad, Libertad y Frontera” explored the strength, freedom, and creativity of women living between borders. In this body of work, artist Alejandra Phelts transformed gestures, symbols, and everyday moments into powerful images filled with beauty, resilience, and connection.
Originally from Tijuana, Baja California, Phelts is a visual artist whose work has been recognized both in Mexico and internationally. Her exhibitions include the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, California; the Álvaro Blancarte Art Gallery at UABC in Tijuana; as well as galleries and festivals in Spain, Japan, Peru, and Indonesia. Her art blends aesthetic sensitivity with social consciousness, turning the daily experiences of women into poetic and moving reflections that spark dialogue and emotional connection.
Alejandra Phelts’ talent lies in her ability to merge storytelling and symbolism through vibrant color, texture, and emotion. Her work captures the invisible threads that connect identity, memory, and territory, creating a visual language that speaks both of personal experience and universal truth. With every piece, she invites viewers to look beyond boundaries—geographic and emotional—and recognize the shared beauty of transformation.
The exhibition took place at the Mexican Cultural and Cinematic Center within the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles. During the opening, Phelts invited guests to step into a universe where stories intertwine, bonds grow stronger, and the border transforms into a space of shared hope, identity, and imagination. The event also premiered the video art piece "Mujeres Pajaro, Mujeres Transfronterizas" by Phelts and filmmaker Leon Felipe Chargoy, and a performance by dancers from Tijuana Dance Company and Conservatory of Dance. The dancers and Alejandra wore exclusive designs created in collaboration with renowned Mexican designer Jorge Sánchez. This creative partnership merged visual art and fashion, transforming each piece into a living expression of movement, identity, and cultural pride.
